Start with a task: your first useful AI workflow

Take one real task from research and a first draft to visuals and a finished result.

Define something you can finish

Choose a task you can complete today, such as a one-page introduction to a weekend book club. Write down the audience, time, location, sign-up method and required dimensions. Set a simple acceptance criterion: a reader should understand whether the event suits them and how to join. This gives the workflow a purpose and tells you when to stop revising.

Collect the facts before writing

Put confirmed facts into a short brief and mark anything uncertain. If research is needed, open the organizer's or venue's official pages and save the links. Do not invent attendance figures, guest biographies or travel times to make the draft feel complete. Missing information belongs in a list of questions.

Ask for a useful first step

Try: ‘Using these facts, suggest three openings and a five-point outline for people attending a book club for the first time. Use a natural voice and avoid exaggerated promises. List missing information as questions.’ Review whether the outline answers the reader's needs before asking for the full draft. Separate structure from wording so each revision has a clear purpose.

Put the draft into its real layout

In Canva, arrange the headline, event details and sign-up information as three clear blocks. Choose an image that leaves room for text. View the result at phone size: can you read the date and location, and is the next action obvious? A draft that sounds good in chat still needs to work where people will see it.

Keep the method for next time

Compare names, dates, links and numbers against the original brief. Save the inputs, useful prompt and final file, and note which step took the most effort. Next time, you can replace the facts while retaining the method. A short research, writing and layout workflow is valuable when it finishes a real task and makes the remaining human decisions clear.
