In the Canva AI 2.0 research preview, designs are built from editable objects. A request can change one image, heading or font while preserving the remaining layout. You can switch to manual editing and continue refining the same design.
Create from the context of your work
The AI 2.0 preview introduces connectors and brand-aware workflows. Connected meeting transcripts or team discussions can become visual summaries, newsletters or sales material. Brand Intelligence can apply fonts, colours and templates, while scheduling can repeat a chosen content task as access rolls out.

Let an assistant work inside Canva
The official remote MCP can generate, edit and find designs, manage assets and folders, export files and add comments. Each user signs in individually with OAuth, and the assistant receives that user’s existing design permissions. Resizing, autofill, brand kits and brand templates require Pro or above.
API authorization and export jobs
REST integrations use OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code with PKCE. Configure the requested scopes and redirect URLs in the developer portal; read and write permissions are separate. Exporting a design runs as an asynchronous job.
MCP limits and export quality
Design generation and export each allow 20 requests per minute; design search allows 100. Free users receive standard-quality exports, while Pro and above can access premium export options. A design containing premium elements may return license_required until those elements are licensed.

AI 2.0 and connected workflows are rolling out; access is not guaranteed for every account. AI tools share an allowance and consume it at different rates. AI output can resemble other users' results; library assets retain their separate licensing conditions.

Export for editing, delivery and publishing
Export options include PDF, PNG, JPG, PPTX and MP4, depending on the design. Use an editable format when the recipient needs to continue editing; keep the Canva source design when you need its objects, brand configuration and collaboration context.

Own the design, license the library elements
You retain your input rights and own generated output to the extent allowed by law. If the result incorporates Canva library content, those elements remain licensed: owning a generated presentation does not mean owning every stock photograph in it.
