What the announcement describes
Notion's July 1 announcement for version 3.6 describes external agents, speaker-labeled meeting notes, interactive HTML and reading or generating more office file formats. Claude and Cursor are among the initial external agents mentioned. This summary reflects the announcement; availability for a particular account should be checked in the workspace and official documentation.
Keep the team's context together
For an editorial team, goals, progress and source material are easier to hand over when they live in the same workspace. Our suggestion is to give each task a card with background, inputs, a deliverable, an owner and acceptance criteria. That brief can be reused across tools and does not depend on one person's chat history.
Begin with a clearly scoped action
Start with a project action list, supplying the source material, constraints and unresolved questions. Distinguish original discussion from confirmed decisions before attempting a longer workflow. Keep versions when an agent changes pages or files, and specify which fields it may change.
Open the generated files
Review presentations and spreadsheets in the software where they will be used. Check hierarchy, formulas, dates and formatting against the original material. Once a format works, retain a template and prompt. These are editorial workflow suggestions, rather than measured claims about product performance.
Evaluate the whole handoff
Record which steps the old process required, which steps AI removes and which reviews it adds. Judge whether the result is usable and can be handed to a colleague, alongside the time taken to generate it. The original announcement is linked in the sources below.
