ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini: choose with your own tasks

Compare the work you actually need, the revisions it takes and how each assistant fits your day.

Three assistants compared through a set of task cards

Bring three tasks from your week

Use meeting notes that need an action list, a product description that needs a plain-language explanation and a document you need to understand. Choose real material that you are allowed to share. A comparison grounded in your work is more useful than a polished demonstration unrelated to it.

Give each assistant the same context

For meeting notes, ask for decisions, owners and deadlines, and require missing details to be marked ‘to confirm’. Use the same inputs and output format. Check for omissions, invented owners and whether a colleague could act on the result. Length and confidence are not reliable measures of usefulness.

Count the effort of revising

Give specific feedback: preserve the original terminology, for example, or separate recommendations from confirmed decisions. Record how many rounds and how much manual rewriting it takes. An ordinary first draft that responds well to feedback may fit daily work better than an impressive draft that is difficult to correct.

Look at practical access

Consider file uploads, switching between desktop and mobile, organizing sources and any team permissions you need. Check current plans, regional availability and account requirements against how often you will use them. Plan costs around useful features and actual frequency.

Build a stable habit before expanding

Keep a brief record of useful outputs, reasons for rework and the tasks each assistant handles well. Choose a main assistant through actual projects. Add another when it fills a clear gap, and revisit that choice when your work or the available capabilities change.
