Capabilities in practice
Remove a clip’s background in the timeline
In the beta video editor, select a timeline clip and enable Remove background in Properties. Firefly identifies the subject from the first selected frame and preserves it across the clip. Toggle the setting to compare the original, then continue editing or download an MP4.
Adapt a video for different formats
The video editor beta can automatically reframe a clip to a new aspect ratio while keeping the main subject visible. Voiceovers can be recorded on the timeline and edited there. The generation and editing workspace also brings assets and video timelines together.

Working style
What it helps you produce
Develop campaign concepts and product mockups. Create video clips and soundtracks. Collect and refine moodboards with a team.
Who it is for
Designers and art directors. Marketers and video creators. Prepare an account, authorized source material and a person to review and finish the output.
Where it runs
Web browsers, iOS and Android; Firefly-powered features also appear in compatible Adobe apps. Firefly is a hosted creative product provided by Adobe.
Browser, system and language support
Desktop use requires 4 GB RAM, Windows 10 or macOS 12 onward (or ChromeOS), and supported modern browsers with JavaScript enabled. The interface includes Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Firefly Speech supports Mandarin zh-CN alongside its documented language and accent options.
Regional access and accessibility
Firefly excludes Russia, Belarus and China, along with the separately listed Adobe restricted jurisdictions. Its accessibility support includes keyboard navigation, screen readers, contrast and forms, described against WCAG 2.1 A/AA.
Connect Firefly Services
Firefly Services uses server-side OAuth credentials from an Adobe Developer Console project. Tokens last 24 hours. The documented default organization limit is 4 requests per minute and 9,000 per day; higher limits require an account-manager request. Handle HTTP 429 with retry-after or exponential backoff.
API input and output constraints
The APIs cover image generation, object compositing and video generation. Object Composite accepts images up to 10 MB. Video generation supports landscape, portrait and square ratios; image-generation storage URLs must use the supported storage hosts.
Tasks and preparation
Start and refine
Open Firefly and sign in with an Adobe ID. Choose an image, video or audio tool and add a prompt or reference. Select a model, generate and refine the result, then download it.
Build a soundtrack around an existing video
Upload a clip to Generate Music and start with a shorter duration. Set the mood, musical style and intended use, then adjust energy and tempo. Compare the four generated options, refine the settings, and extend to the full duration. Download the soundtrack alone or combine it with the video.
Product visual variations — example
Provide a product image and a reference for composition or style. Use generative image tools to explore a treatment, review the output and export JPG or PNG for the next design step.
A clip without its original background — example
Place a clip on the beta video-editor timeline, select it and enable background removal in Properties. Compare it with the original, continue editing and export the video.
Music matched to a travel clip — example
Upload a travel clip, try a short music duration, and choose the mood, style and intended use. Compare the alternatives, then generate the full duration and export the soundtrack or combined video.
Conditions to check
Premium features consume generative credits; usage varies by feature and model. Monthly credits reset without rolling over. Adobe model outputs and partner-model outputs have separate commercial-use conditions.
